Agile Soul Mates Jamming in Florida by Mary Gorman
When you see Agile business analysis and product management as a topic for timely and deep conversations, you’ve entered the world of Agile Open Jam. And that world was jamming November 2014 at the Building Business Capability conference.
For the second year in a row, EBG organized and hosted the BBC’s Agile Open Jam. Ellen served in that role in 2013, I picked up the role for 2014. We were jazzed yet again by the enthusiasm, sharing, and energy the Open Jam generated. Dozens and dozens of folks participated—proposing provocative topics, diving into animated conversations, and networking with kindred spirits.
The reviews were great. Comments included: “awesome to talk with other agile practitioners…, powerful and valuable…, great sharing possible solutions…, very quick and fun…”
Summary Report
As the official conference of the IIBA® many of the BBC attendees were eager to delve into agile topics related to business analysis and product ownership. Check out their interests in this visual recap.

Appreciations
As host of the BBC Agile Open Jam I was fortunate to work with a great team. Our sponsors, the Agile Alliance and the conference organizer Rising Media, provided publicity and a high-traffic venue.
Our facilitators truly facilitated, lightly guiding the participants’ conversations and helping to distill the discussions on posters. Thank you Sue Block, Ellen Gottesdiener, Joe Lance, Kori Mendonsa and Bob Woods. (Read our end-of-jam retrospective results in the visual recap above.)
The value of any Agile Open Jam is injected and extracted by the attendees themselves. At the BBC, the energy for learning and sharing their agile experiences was contagious. This energy repeatedly drew in folks walking by, created a twitter buzz, and increased participation the second day. Thank you all!
